Start Dates for Fall 2021

This visualization displays Fall 2021 semester start dates across U.S. public and private institutions. Notably, most institutions start in late August or early September; however, a sizable number of colleges and universities’ start dates are later, in mid-September, October, and November. This delay in the start is not negligible and is relevant in measuring how COVID-19 is still affecting institutions’ scheduling even in the 2021-2022 academic year, with “normal” scheduling and operations yet to be re-instilled. This data was obtained from C2i’s Fall institution start date data collection.
