The graphic above shows the percentage of undergraduates infected in the Fall 2020 semester by NCAA Division level. Division 1 colleges have the highest median percentage of undergraduates infected in Fall 2020 which is indicated by the vertical line in the box. Division 3 has the lowest median percentage of undergraduates infected. However, all three NCAA Divisions have similar mean values and outliers with high COVID cases percentages. The percent of undergraduates infected was found using from the New York Times“Tracking COVID-19 at U.S. Colleges and Universities” GitHub repository and IPEDS Fall 2019 undergraduate enrollment. The New York Times dataset included all cases reported by colleges and universities, not just undergraduate students. The NCAA Division level of institutions was found from the “Equity in Athletics Data Analysis” by the U.S. Department of Education.
