Wilbert Garcia is a senior Computer Science Major and PPE Major at Davidson College. He is a Questbridge Scholar from Lawrence, Massachusetts. Wilbert’s work entails building web applications using R Shiny. He has a strong academic interest in Deep Learning and hopes to pursue a career in social entrepreneurship and philanthropy.

Katherine Smith
Katherine Smith is a senior Psychology Major and Computer Science Minor at Davidson College from Houston, Texas. Katherine’s work focuses on manipulating and visualizing data to help decision makers understand, form conclusions, and create solutions. She spent the beginning of this summer interning as a summer associate for the Berkeley Research Group. In addition to her work at C2i, Katherine is currently interning for the Greater Houston Community Foundation, analyzing the impact of COVID-19 on different sectors of Houston. As well, she volunteers as a remote English teacher for elementary students in Colombia. Outside of her work, Katherine leads the Women’s Soccer Team at Davidson College as a captain. When she’s not on the computer or the soccer field, Katherine likes to spend her time exploring the outdoors and traveling.
Ethan Rodier
Ethan Rodier is an intended Political Science major with a minor in Data Science at Davidson College. Originally from Fairfield, Connecticut, his interests include combining his passion for politics, policy, and data for various real world applications. His experience includes being a campaign fellow for US Senator Chris Murphy and taking the lead in the effort to mandate Holocaust education in Connecticut’s public schools. Ethan is involved in many activities at Davidson College, including being a campus tour guide, and holding leadership positions for Jewish Student Union and College Democrats. He hopes to pursue a career that combines public policy and data analytics after graduating in the Spring of 2023. When not working, Ethan enjoys golfing, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.
Brad Shook
Brad Shook is a junior Computer Science major and Mathematics minor at Davidson College. Brad is a part of the team that developed the web scraping algorithm for determining coronavirus response updates by institutions on their webpages. Specifically, he has implemented the SQL database schema and determined how to properly check for updates. His experience also includes working on a project connecting faculty members to news topics through the use of NLP techniques such as TF-IDF. Overall, Brad is interested in researching machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Jake Carver
Jake Carver is a senior Computer Science and English Major hailing from Los Angeles, California. His expertise includes web development, data science, machine learning, and natural language processing. In addition to C2i, he serves as the web editor for Davidson College’s student newspaper, The Davidsonian, and works as a video game designer with Davidson’s digital studies department. When he isn’t coding, he’s probably reading, writing, or playing the guitar.
