Willis A. Jones

Willis A. Jones is an associate professor of higher education at the University of South Florida.  His primary area of research examines the finances of intercollegiate athletics. In particular, he is interested in how the presence, successes, and/or failures college athletics influence external actors and resource providers. Dr. Jones also examines the consequences of the social structures created by intercollegiate athletics on the educational experiences of student-athletes.

Prior to joining the USF faculty in 2020, Dr. Jones worked at the University of Kentucky. He earned his B.A. in Sociology from the University of North Texas, his M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arkansas, and his Ph.d. in Higher Education Leadership and Policy from Vanderbilt University.
